First National Championship title won

Sierra Nevada College women’s ski team takes the first national title. Other ski and snowboard awards announced with more to come. Stay tuned for more updates and photos.


Matea Ferk and Johanna Tikkanen went first and second in the Giant Slalom in getting Sierra Nevada College off to another strong start at the USCSA National Championships in Sun Valley, Idaho.


National Championship update: Women’s Giant Slalom: First place Matea Ferk, second place Johanna Tikkanen, fifth Caroline Klaesson, seventh Emilie Lamoureux, 10th Melissa Daniels. SNC First place team result!


Ferk’s winning time was 2:06.38, followed by teammate Tikkanen at 2:06.47. SNC’s Caroline Klaesson was fifth at 2:07.92 to give the Eagles the team title in the GS.

National Championships Update: Snowboard Half pipe: Men


Fourth place, Marco Gooding, eight place, Armeen Pirooz, ninth place,  Tom Letson, 10th Danny Kern.


Women: second place Ashley VanderMeer, fourth place Jenise Spiteri, seventh Kelsey Madro, 12th Rebekah Ashley.


National Championships Update: Ski Halfpipe Men and Women


First place Jason Arens, first place Katie Souza, fourth place Kim Smith, eight place Rebecca Roberts.
